Mission Statement
We believe transparency and honesty are needed in our local governments.
We are voters who want to insure that the rights of all taxpayers are protected.
Issues of Concern
- Transparency in process. Our goal is open communication between government and citizens. Taxpayers deserve to be fully informed and included during the decision making process.
- Follow the law due process. We are concerned that the spirit, intent and integrity of the laws are not being followed and that important decisions are made without public input. We believe the end does not justify the means.
- Fiscal responsibility. We need firm government budgets that demand accountability and fiscal restraint. Any necessary variance or change to the budget should be noted at a public meeting, with a clear explanation.
- Open bid policy. All public entities should adopt a written, consistent procurement policy for contracts and/or major expenditures.
- Conflict of interest. We are concerned with the current lack of a required, detailed disclosure statement for public officials to identify all potential conflicts of interest in the governmental decision making process.
- Implied threats, retribution and intimidation. We believe local citizens should never be afraid to ask questions, oppose a process or take a different position than those of our elected officials.
- Proper use of taxpayer money. Government must avoid the use of taxpayer dollars to suppress citizen concerns. This method does not protect the taxpayers, it attempts to shield the governing body.
- Avoidance of voter approval. There is a long history of the voter approval process being sidestepped and ignored, a practice we believe is against our rights as citizens.
